The love story of artists Marina Abramovic and Ulay alias. Uwe Laysiepen started in 1976 in Amsterdam. The artist couple that has been working together for quite some time, lived in a VW bus together with Aborigines and Tibetans.
After 8 years of relationship and many creative moments, the couple parted and staged their own break-up in a very special way: for three months they walked towards each other on the Great Wall of China, to meet right in the middle of it and hug each other for the last time. More than 30 years have passed since this moment.
In 2010 the Museum of Modern Art in New York hosted an event for Marina. During her performance “The Artist is Present”, the Serbian artist sat opposite to 1565 strangers, looking everyone in the eye. One of the strangers happened to be Ulay, who mingled with the strangers.
This moment is worth more than a thousand words.
